About

Emma Jean Bell was born on December 17, 1986, in Woodstown, New Jersey. She spent her early years growing up in Flemington and the Stanton section of Readington Township, where she attended Hunterdon Central Regional High School. At the age of 16, Bell relocated to New York City to further her education in performing arts, attending Talent Unlimited High School on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. Her introduction to acting began at age 12, performing in an Off-Broadway cabaret show in New York. Bell’s family has a background in media; her mother, Tessa Horan, was a producer for 60 Minutes, and her father, Robert M. Bell, owns Green Birdie Productions, a video production company, and worked as a reporter, videographer, and writer-producer for WWOR-TV.

Bell made her screen debut in 2004 with an appearance in an episode of the NBC drama series ‘Third Watch’, followed by roles in ‘Law & Order: Special Victims Unit’ and the short-lived WB series ‘The Bedford Diaries’ in 2006. Her film career commenced in 2007 with the sports drama ‘Gracie’. A notable period in her career was 2010, where she starred as Parker O’Neill in the film ‘Frozen’, a role she reprised in an uncredited cameo in ‘Hatchet II’ the same year. Also in 2010, she took on the role of Amy, Andrea’s younger sister, in Season 1 of AMC’s ‘The Walking Dead’. In 2011, Bell secured the female lead role of Molly Harper in the thriller-horror film ‘Final Destination 5’.

Continuing her career trajectory, Bell notably joined the cast of TNT’s drama series ‘Dallas’ as a series regular for its second and third seasons (2013–2014), portraying Emma Judith Ryland Brown. Beyond acting, Bell has expanded her creative work into directing and writing. She made her directorial debut with the short film ‘Scratch’ in 2016, which earned multiple festival awards. This was followed by directing and writing the short film ‘Between the Pines’. She has also appeared in various television series such as ‘American Horror Story: Roanoke’, ‘NCIS’, ‘Lucifer’, and ‘Designated Survivor’, demonstrating a consistent presence across diverse productions.
