Ewen Bremner

Ewen Bremner is a Scottish actor renowned for his diverse performances across film, television, and theatre, working with celebrated directors and making unique contributions to various productions. After achieving international recognition for his breakout performance as Daniel ‘Spud’ Murphy in Danny Boyle’s critically acclaimed film Trainspotting (1996), Ewen Bremner later reprised the iconic role in T2: Trainspotting (2017), for which he received a BAFTA Scotland Award for Best Actor. Bremner originally brought the character of Mark Renton to life in the Edinburgh Traverse Theatre production, before transitioning to the beloved Spud for the screen. He garnered significant critical praise for his lead role as Julien, the schizophrenic protagonist, in Harmony Korine’s Julien Donkey-Boy (1999), a film created under the strict ultra-realist principles of the Dogma 95 movement, where he also collaborated with director Werner Herzog.

His filmography also includes Mojo (1997), The Acid House (1998), 16 Years of Alcohol (2003), and Mike Newell’s Great Expectations (2012).
