He has transitioned to coaching, now serving as the Head Coach of the Free State Cheetahs. After debuting for the South Africa national rugby union team, the Springboks, at wing in 2006, François Steyn quickly established himself as a formidable presence in top-tier rugby. He made his Super 14 debut with the Sharks in 2007, showcasing his exceptional versatility by performing across various backline positions including right wing, fullback, and fly-half.
His journey continued with a move to Japan, playing for Toshiba Brave Lupus from 2014 to 2016, before joining Montpellier in France.
