Frank Dick’s extraordinary career in sports coaching has led him to become a highly sought-after performance consultant and motivational speaker, working across the sporting and corporate worlds and exploring the many parallels between the two. He is currently Strategic Planning Consultant with the England Rugby Team and President of the European Athletics Coaches Association.
Dick has a long and distinguished career in sports coaching, having served as the British Athletics Federation’s Director of Coaching for 15 years, and personally delivered training programmes for the likes of Daley Thompson, Katarina Witt and Boris Becker. Today he is a member of the IAAF Coaches Commission and Chair of the IAAF Academy, as well as serving as President of the European Athletics Coaches Association, a position he has held for over three decades.
In the run-up to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Dick served as Consultant Performance Director to the South Africa Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee. Here, he worked with the country’s top coaches and athletes to help the team achieve 10 medals, one of their best-ever Olympic hauls. Following this, he moved to England Rugby to work with head coach Eddie Jones in the build-up to the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
Dick is the author of several works including Sports Training Principles, Winning Matters, and Winning Lines, and has delivered speeches to hundreds of companies and conferences worldwide. He was appointed an OBE in 1989, and was inducted into the UK Coaches Hall of Fame in 1999. He has been named UK Sporting Hero by Sport UK, holds an Honorary Doctorate from Loughborough University, and an Honorary Professorship from the National Sports Academy of Bulgaria.
