Gabriela Guimaraes

Gabriela Guimaraes was born in 1994 and grew up in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, where she initially engaged in various sports, including football, swimming, and tennis. At 14, she discovered volleyball, which quickly became her primary focus. Her professional career began shortly after joining Mackenzie Sports Club, a key early step in her development. Following this, she moved to Sesc Rio de Janeiro Volei Clube, contributing to multiple domestic trophies, four South American Championship titles, and two Club World Championship silver medals. In 2018, Guimaraes returned to Belo Horizonte to play for Minas Tennis Clube, where she secured another South American Club Championship title. Her consistent performance at club level led to her being selected for the Brazilian National Team, playing a significant role in their transition between generations of players.

In 2019, Guimaraes moved to Europe, joining the Turkish club VakıfBank. During her time there, she achieved considerable success, including a bronze, silver, and gold medal in the FIVB Club World Championship across her first three seasons. With VakıfBank, she also won two European Champions League titles, three Turkish Cups, two Turkish Championships, and two Turkish Super Cup titles. On the international stage, Guimaraes has been a vital part of the Brazilian National Team, earning a bronze medal at the 2014 World Championship and gold medals in the FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix in 2013, 2014, 2016, and 2017. Her Olympic journey includes participating in Rio 2016, where Brazil reached the quarter-finals, and Tokyo 2020 (held in 2021), where the team secured a silver medal. She also earned a bronze medal at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Guimaraes has consistently demonstrated her impact on the court, contributing to silver medals at the Women’s Nations League tournaments in 2019, 2021, and 2022, as well as at the 2022 World Championships. Her leadership and tactical contributions were recognized when she became captain of Brazil’s national team following Natália Pereira’s retirement in 2022. In 2024-2025, she embarked on a new professional challenge, joining the Italian club Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano, where she immediately won the Italian Supercup. Known for her technical skill, explosive play, and composure under pressure, Guimaraes has earned nicknames such as “Miss Everything” and “the daughter of the volleyball God,” highlighting her comprehensive abilities and consistent high-level performance.
