Garrett Epple

Garrett Epple, originally from Baltimore, Maryland, attended Calvert Hall College High School before enrolling at the University of Notre Dame. During his collegiate career at Notre Dame, Epple distinguished himself as a formidable defenseman. In 2017, he was named a USILA First Team All-American, an All-ACC selection, and an Inside Lacrosse Second Team All-American. He consistently led the Notre Dame defense, notably matching a career-high with four caused turnovers and six ground balls in a game against Maryland, where the Irish allowed only four goals. Epple’s performance led the ACC in caused turnovers during that period. His consistent play and leadership contributed significantly to his team’s defensive unit throughout his college tenure, establishing a foundation for his professional career.

Epple transitioned to professional lacrosse, where he quickly became a standout defenseman in the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL). He played for the Redwoods LC, leading their defensive unit to the 2019 PLL Championship Game. During the 2019 season, he recorded 45 ground balls and 24 caused turnovers. His professional accolades include being a four-time All-Star (2019, 2021, 2022, 2024) and a four-time 1st Team All-Pro (2019, 2020, 2022, 2023). Epple also received the Defensive Player of the Year award in 2023 and was a two-time 2nd Team All-Pro in 2021 and 2024. He was nominated for the Dave Pietramala Defensive Player of the Year Award and Tournament in both 2019 and 2020. In the 2020 season, he maintained his high performance, registering 9 caused turnovers and 17 ground ball pickups in five games, earning a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Epple currently plays for the Boston Cannons, continuing to be a key defensive player in the league, with his contract extending through the 2025 season. Outside of lacrosse, Epple enjoys basketball, golf, and video games. Since February 2024, he also serves as a Principal at Epple Commercial Real Estate.
