About

Born on March 15, 1972, in Sudbury, Suffolk, United Kingdom, Glenn Catley began his professional boxing career in 1993 as a middleweight. Known as “Catman”, he quickly established a formidable record, winning 21 of his first 22 fights. A notable early achievement included capturing the WBC International Middleweight Title against George Bocco. Despite an unexpected loss of this title to Andras Galfi, Catley demonstrated resilience by subsequently winning the British Middleweight Title with a knockout victory over Neville Brown.

Catley’s career progressed as he moved to the super middleweight division. In 1998, he challenged WBC World Super Middleweight Title holder Richie Woodhall, in a close contest that many observers felt Catley had done enough to win, despite a majority decision loss. His determination led to an impressive series of victories, securing the WBO Inter-Continental Super Middle title in a rematch against Andras Galfi and the IBF version against Andy Flute. A significant milestone occurred when he defeated Eric Lucas in Canada with a knockout, a feat Lucas had not experienced previously. These successes culminated in his challenge for the WBC title against Markus Beyer in Frankfurt, Germany. In May 2000, Catley achieved a career highlight by winning the WBC Super Middleweight World Title via a 12th-round TKO.

Following his world title win, Catley encountered setbacks, losing his belt to Dingaan Thobela in South Africa and an attempt to regain the vacant WBC title from Eric Lucas in 2001. After these challenges and a couple of European title fights against Danilo Haussler, Catley initially retired in 2003. He made a brief comeback in 2006-2007, securing two knockout victories before retiring for good. Post-boxing, Glenn Catley has leveraged his experiences in professional sports to become a qualified Clinical Hypnotherapist and Psychotherapist, as well as a sought-after motivational speaker, focusing on topics such as stress and anxiety management, leadership, and resilience.
