Gregg Binkley is an American television actor. He is most recognized for his roles as Kenny James in My Name Is Earl (2005-2009); Barney in Raising Hope (2010-2014); and Harold in the movie Revenge of the Nerds 3: The Next Generation (1992). He was also a spokesperson for the fast-food restaurant chain Del Taco. Binkley was born and raised in Topeka, Kansas, and graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1981, where he was class president. In May 1988, after relocating to California, he competed on Classic Concentration. Gilmore Girls, Malcolm in the Middle, Sabrina, the Teenage Witch, Yes, Dear, The Drew Carey Show, Full House, and Wizards of Waverly Place have all featured him as a guest star.
Binkley used to work as a celebrity impersonator, acting as Don Knotts’ character Barney Fife over the phone. In Behind the Camera: The Unauthorized Story of Three’s Company, Binkley executed a similar impersonation. Binkley’s other credits include playing a waiter in season 1, episode 23, of The Millers, and an aspiring doctor in Dracula: Dead and Loving It. On Full House Season 7 Episode 9 – The ‘Rigby the Rhino’ episode, he played a mall security guard (with comparable traits to Barney Fife).
Binkley was engaged by the TV tabloid HARD COPY to play a Barney Fife-style security guard in a programme directed by George Ciccarone and recorded in Las Vegas. In character, he would issue citations to people for being disrespectful and disobeying simple laws such as the quantity of things allowed at a checkout counter or breaching the “walk left, stand right” regulation on Vegas airport sidewalks.
