Prior to his acting career, Chapman worked as a bouncer, where he reportedly met Tracy Morgan, a co-star in “30 Rock.” Beyond his television work, Chapman has also appeared in feature films such as “Money Monster” (2016), where he played a Network Security Guard, and “The Cobbler” (2014), in the role of Tino.
Chapman has faced personal health challenges, including severe hypertension, which led to him receiving a kidney transplant in July 2010. Before the transplant, he underwent dialysis treatments. His experience with kidney disease prompted him to become a spokesperson for the National Kidney Foundation in March 2010, aiming to raise awareness about hypertension and kidney disease. He shared his story on “The Dr. Oz Show” in December 2009 to further this cause. In addition to his acting commitments, Chapman has explored entrepreneurial ventures, owning a comic book store in the Bronx, which inspired his own web series concept, “The Lair.”
In recent years, Chapman’s home in Woodbridge, Virginia, was notably impacted by a freight truck crash in December 2024.
