Gucci Westman, born Chelsea Westman in 1971 in California, later receiving the name Grucharan. She spent part of her childhood in a kundalini yoga ashram before moving to Sweden with her father at age ten. Westman’s career in makeup artistry spans over two decades, during which she established a reputation for creating makeup looks that emphasize natural finishes and a second-skin approach. Her work has appeared in prominent publications such as Vogue, W, The Hollywood Reporter, WWD, and Harper’s Bazaar, and she has contributed to advertising campaigns for luxury brands including Bvlgari, Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton, and Dolce & Gabbana.
Westman has worked with a range of high-profile celebrities, including Natalie Portman, Gwyneth Paltrow, Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Aniston, Anne Hathaway, Reese Witherspoon, Taylor Swift, and Kim Kardashian. She also served as a makeup artist and supervisor for films such as “Being John Malkovich,” “Buffalo ’66,” and “French Exit.” In addition to her editorial and celebrity work, Westman has been a regular presence backstage at Fashion Week, providing makeup artistry for runway shows by designers like Oscar de la Renta, Richard Chai, Diane von Furstenberg, Marchesa, and Carolina Herrera.
Her career includes significant roles in cosmetic design. From 2003 to 2007, she held the position of International Artistic Director for Lancôme, where she represented the brand and designed cosmetic color collections. She then transitioned to Global Artistic Director for Revlon from 2008 to 2015, developing collections such as “Daydreamer” and “Suede Rhapsody.” In early 2018, Westman launched her own clean beauty brand, Westman Atelier, in collaboration with her husband, David Neville, co-founder of Rag & Bone. The brand focuses on consciously crafted, luxury beauty products and has expanded its retail presence, including a partnership with Sephora.
