British stage and screen actor Guy Burnet has evolved from being a UK soap opera star to become an acclaimed off-Broadway actor with roles in a variety of popular American drama shows. He has also appeared in a range of films, including Jacob’s Ladder, Pitch Perfect 3, and Day Out of Days. He received much praise for his off-Broadway debut in Murder in the First.
Burnet was born in London in 1983. He initially aspired to be a footballer, even getting as far as trials with Queens Park Rangers. However, he ultimately turned to acting, becoming involved in the theatre and short-film making. His got his television break in 2002, when he was cast as Craig Dean in Channel Four’s long-running Chester-based soap opera Hollyoaks. He stayed with the show for six years, becoming one of its stars and appearing in the late-night spin-off Hollyoaks Later. In 2009, he made his BBC debut with a part in the Jimmy McGovern drama series Moving On. The following year, he made his first appearance on American television, appearing in an episode of the Disney sitcom Sonny with a Chance.
After a few years of working in film and New York theatre, Burnet returned to American TV with appearances in three episodes of the hugely successful Showtime drama series Ray Donovan. He then won recurring roles in The Affair (also Showtime), Chicago Fire (NBC), and Hand of God (Amazon). He has also made a brief return to Channel 4, appearing in an episode of Phillip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams.
