Professional rugby union player Handré Pollard represents South Africa in the national team whilst also playing for the French club Montpellier.
Having shown exceptional promise as a top rugby player since his childhood, Pollard was first selected for the Western Province U13 team during the Craven Week competition during 2007. Making his senior professional debut in 2013 when he signed to the South African team the Blue Bulls with whom he went on to play with until 2017. His continued high performances have seen Pollard go on to enjoy seasons playing for a host of other reputable teams, including the Bulls from 2014 – 2019 and Japanese top league club NTT DoCoMo Red Hurricanes from 2015 – 2016. Since 2019 Pollard has played with the French rugby union club Montpellier with whom he plays in the Top 14 competition. After first representing South Africa in the U20 2012 Junior World Championship, Pollard went on to be selected for the squad during both the 2013 and 2014 Junior World Championships, during which year he was at one stage the competitions leading points scorer in history and was nominated for the 2014 Young Player of the Year award.
Since 2014 Pollard has represented the South Africa national team, making his debut performance during the team’s tour against Scotland. Since then, Pollard has gone on to play with the squad in both the 2014 Rugby World Championship and the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
