Hanna Öberg, born on November 2, 1995, in Kiruna, Sweden, began skiing at the age of two, transitioning to biathlon later in her career. Her early career saw her achieve significant success at junior levels, including two gold medals and one silver medal at the 2016 Junior World Championships in Cheile Grădiştei. She also earned a silver medal at the 2012 Youth World Championships in Kontiolahti in the 3×6 km relay. Her World Cup debut came in the 2016–17 season, where she secured the IBU Female Rookie of the Year Award, marking her as a promising talent in the sport.
Öberg achieved a significant career breakthrough at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, where she won a gold medal in the 15 km individual event, marking her first career victory and podium finish at the senior level. She also secured a silver medal in the 4×6 km relay at the same Olympics. Following this success, she continued to excel, becoming a World Champion in the 15 km individual event at the 2019 Biathlon World Championships in Östersund, her home country.
