Hannes Daube, born on January 5, 2000, in Newport Beach, California, is an American water polo player with a significant career spanning collegiate, professional, and international levels. He attended Orange Lutheran High School, where he secured a CIF Division 1 Championship and was named a First Team All-America selection. Daube furthered his education and water polo career at the University of Southern California (USC), majoring in Economics. During his freshman year in 2018, Daube was instrumental in leading USC to an NCAA Championship, earning First Team All-American honors and being named MPSF Newcomer of the Year. He was the team’s second-leading scorer with 58 goals that season, demonstrating his offensive prowess early in his career.
Throughout his collegiate tenure, Daube continued to excel, earning a Second Team All-American distinction in 2019 and maintaining his First Team All-MPSF status. His professional career has seen him compete with notable European clubs; he played for Olympiacos in Greece during the 2020-21 season, where he was part of teams that won the Greek Super Cup, Greek Cup, and A1 Ethniki League Championship. He then moved to Marseille in France for the 2022-23 season, contributing to their French League Championship. Currently, Daube competes for VK Jug in Dubrovnik, Croatia, and has signed with Apollon Smyrnis in Greece for the 2025-26 season.
