Krisztián Manhercz

Krisztián Péter Manhercz was born on February 6, 1997, in Budapest, Hungary. He developed an early interest in water polo and began his professional club career with Vasas in 2013, playing until 2014. His early career also included time with Szeged from 2014 to 2017. During these formative years, Manhercz established himself as a wing player with a right-handed throw, contributing to various junior national team successes, including a bronze medal at the Junior World Championship in 2015, a silver medal at the Junior European Championship in 2014, and a gold medal at the Youth World Championship in 2014. His consistent performance led to his inclusion in the Hungarian men’s national water polo team, making his debut in 2016.

Manhercz’s career progressed significantly with his participation in major international competitions. In 2016, he competed at the Men’s European Water Polo Championship, where Hungary secured a bronze medal. The same year, he made his Olympic debut at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics. A notable turning point occurred in 2017 when he secured a silver medal at the World Aquatics Championships in Budapest. He continued to build on his international success, winning a gold medal at the FINA World Cup in 2018 and a silver medal at the FINA Water Polo World League the same year.

His club career also saw significant achievements, including winning the LEN Euro Cup with Ferencváros in 2018, followed by a Hungarian Championship title (OB I) in the same year. In 2018, Manhercz joined OSC-Újbuda, where he played until 2023. A significant milestone in his international career was earning a gold medal at the 2020 European Water Polo Championship in Budapest and an Olympic bronze medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Most recently, in 2023, he contributed to Hungary’s gold medal victory at the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka. Since 2023, Manhercz has been playing for Marseille. He also competed in the 2024 Summer Olympics, where Hungary placed 4th.
