Henry Ian Cusick

Henry Ian Cusick is an actor and director known for his extensive work across television, film, and theatre. After earning a special commendation at the 1995 Ian Charleson Awards for his compelling performances as Torquato Tasso in the Edinburgh International Festival production of ‘Torquato Tasso’ and as Creon in the Citizens Theatre’s ‘Oedipus,’ Henry Ian Cusick established himself in classical theatre. His early leading roles at Citizens Theatre in Glasgow, Scotland, included portraying Dorian Gray in ‘The Picture of Dorian Gray,’ Hamlet in ‘The Marovitz Hamlet,’ and Horner in ‘The Country Wife.’ Transitioning to screen, Cusick appeared in television series such as ‘Casualty’ and ‘The Book Group’ before taking on the pivotal role of Jesus Christ in the 2003 film ‘The Gospel of John.’ A significant turning point in Cusick’s career came in 2005 when he was cast as Desmond Hume in the acclaimed ABC series ‘Lost.’ This role, which began as a recurring guest part in its second season, quickly evolved into a main cast role from seasons three to six, with Cusick appearing in a total of 77 episodes. His compelling portrayal garnered him a Primetime Emmy Award nomination in 2006.

His acting career continued with further key roles, including Dr. Jonas Lear in the Fox drama ‘The Passage,’ appearing in 10 episodes in 2019, and Russ Taylor in the CBS drama ‘MacGyver,’ where he featured in 28 episodes from 2020 to 2021. Most recently, Cusick has lent his voice to the animated-live action hybrid ‘The Wingfeather Saga,’ appearing in nine episodes from 2022 to the present. He also featured in five episodes of ‘NCIS: Hawai’i’ between 2023 and 2024, and appeared in two episodes of ‘9-1-1: Lone Star’ in 2024, continuing to build a diverse and impactful career across various acclaimed productions.
