Hermijntje Drenth was born on July 19, 1994, in the Netherlands. Her career in rowing began during her studies at Amsterdam University College, where she developed an interest in the sport. Over the years, she progressed to become a professional rower, representing the Netherlands in numerous international competitions. Her dedication and hard work have led to significant achievements on the global stage. Drenth has consistently demonstrated her commitment to the sport through rigorous training and participation in high-level events.
Her career includes multiple appearances at World Rowing Championships and European Rowing Championships. A notable milestone occurred in 2023 when she secured a gold medal in the coxless four at the World Rowing Championships held in Belgrade. This achievement was followed by another significant success in 2024, when she won a gold medal in the women’s coxless four at the Paris Olympics. In 2025, she further added to her accolades by winning a gold medal in the women’s eight at the World Rowing Championships in Shanghai. She has also earned silver medals, including two in 2022 at the World Rowing Championships in Račice for both coxless four and eight events, and two at the European Rowing Championships in 2021 and 2025 for the eight category. Additionally, she has received bronze medals at the European Rowing Championships in 2020, 2022, and 2023 for the eight and coxless four events.
Beyond her competitive rowing, Drenth has also engaged with academic pursuits, having studied at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She has also served as an interim and project manager at PART zorg, demonstrating a versatile professional background alongside her athletic career. Her continuous participation in elite competitions and her consistent medal-winning performances highlight her position as a prominent figure in Dutch rowing.
