Ilana Glazer was born on April 12, 1987, in Long Island, New York. She embarked on her career in improv comedy, taking classes at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre in 2006 and performing stand-up in New York City. Her early work in comedy laid the groundwork for her significant contributions to television and film as an actress, writer, and producer.
Glazer achieved widespread recognition through “Broad City,” a web series she co-created and starred in with Abbi Jacobson starting in 2009. The series showcased fictionalized versions of themselves navigating life in New York City and gained attention from major media outlets. The success of the web series led to its adaptation as a television series for Comedy Central, which premiered in January 2014. “Broad City” received critical acclaim and strong ratings, becoming a cultural phenomenon before concluding its five-season run in 2019.
