Irma Gerd

Jason Wells, known by the stage name Irma Gerd, was born on September 24, 1989, in Corner Brook, Newfoundland. Wells began performing drag in 2012. Early in her career, Irma Gerd became a founding member of ‘The Phlegm Fatales,’ a non-binary drag collective. This group is recognized for its theatrical shows that employ humor as a tool for political commentary. Prior to gaining wider recognition, Irma Gerd hosted Drag Race viewing parties at Valhalla Tavern in St. John’s, Newfoundland, starting in 2018. This activity contributed to her local presence and engagement within the drag community.

Irma Gerd gained national attention as a contestant on the third season of ‘Canada’s Drag Race,’ where she placed sixth. As the first queen from Atlantic Canada to compete on the show, her participation was a notable milestone. During her time on the program, she was recognized for her performance in challenges, including the Snatch Game, and showcased aspects of Newfoundland culture. Her career progression includes appearances on television and web series. She was featured in the second season of ‘Canada’s a Drag’ in 2019 and later as a contestant on ‘Canada’s Drag Race’ in 2022. Additionally, she has appeared in web series such as ‘After the Sashay’ and ‘CBC News’ in 2022, and ‘Bring Back My Girls’ in 2023.
