İsmail Keleş was born on March 5, 1988, in Ankara, Turkey. He began his journey in sport shooting in 2007 and started competing professionally in 2008. By profession, he holds the rank of a First Lieutenant in the Turkish Gendarmerie and trains with the Jandarma Gücü Sports Club, coached by Oman Erding Bilgili. His early career saw him quickly rise through the ranks, demonstrating talent in both 10m Air Pistol and 50m Pistol events.
Keleş’s career is marked by significant national and international achievements. He earned a silver medal at the 2012 ISSF World Cup in Milan, Italy, which qualified him for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. That same year, he also secured a silver in the 10m Air Pistol team event at the European Championships in Vierumäki, Finland. His dedication to the sport culminated in a gold medal at the 2023 European Games in Krakow for the 10m Air Pistol Men event, alongside a silver for the 10m Air Pistol team.
