Ivan Sergei Gaudio was born on May 7, 1971, in Hawthorne, New Jersey. Of Dutch and Italian descent, he attended Hawthorne High School, graduating in 1989. Sergei began his acting career in the mid-1990s, quickly establishing himself with roles in various television and film productions. His early work included appearances in the 1995 films “Gunfighter’s Moon” and “Dangerous Minds,” as well as television movies like “If Someone Had Known” (1995) and “Mother, May I Sleep with Danger?” (1996).
Sergei gained significant recognition for his role as Matt Mateo in the 1998 film “The Opposite of Sex.” He continued to build his profile with lead roles in television series, starring as Mac Ramsey in the 1997 television adaptation of John Woo’s “Once a Thief,” which ran for one season. Following this, he co-starred with Amanda Peet in the series “Jack & Jill” from 1999 to 2001, portraying David ‘Jill’ Jillefsky. His career progression saw him take on the role of Dr. Peter Winslow in “Crossing Jordan” from 2003 to 2004, a medical drama that further showcased his acting capabilities. He also appeared in the 2002 series “Wednesday 9:30 (8:30 Central)” and “Hawaii” in 2004.
Throughout the 2000s and beyond, Sergei maintained a consistent presence in both film and television. Notable roles include Henry Mitchell in “Charmed” (2005-2006) and a minor part in the 2006 film “The Break-Up” alongside Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn. He also starred in the TV mini-series “Jack Hunter and the Lost Treasure of Ugarit” (2008), and made guest appearances in popular shows like “CSI: Miami” (2008), “Warehouse 13” (2009), “Gravity” (2010), “The Mentalist” (2012), “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” (2013), and “NCIS: New Orleans” (2016). More recently, he featured in “BH90210” in 2019 and the film “Magic Max” in 2020.
