Ivona Dadic was born on December 29, 1993, in Wels, Austria, to parents of Croatian descent. She began her athletics journey at a young age, winning her first competition at nine. Dadic has steadily progressed in her career, representing Austria in multiple major championships. She competed in the women’s heptathlon at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where she achieved personal bests in the long jump, javelin, and 800 meters, finishing 25th overall.
A significant turning point came in 2015 when Dadic secured a bronze medal at the European U23 Championships in Tallinn, Estonia, with a score of 6033 points, setting a new national record. This was followed by another bronze medal at the 2016 European Championships in Amsterdam, achieving 6408 points, once again setting a national record. In 2017, she earned a silver medal in the pentathlon at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade with 4767 points, another national record. Her consistent high-level performance continued in 2018, securing a silver medal in the pentathlon at the World Indoor Championships in Birmingham and a fourth-place finish in the heptathlon at the European Championships in Berlin with a personal best of 6552 points.
Dadic’s career includes multiple Olympic appearances, placing 8th at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo in the heptathlon. She has also achieved numerous top-eight finishes at World Championships and has been recognized as the Austrian Sportswoman of the Year in 2020. Her dedication to her sport is further highlighted by her personal bests across various disciplines including 6.49m in long jump and 52.48m in javelin throw, showcasing her versatility as a multi-event athlete.
