Jack McVeigh has demonstrated consistent career progression from college basketball to achieving an NBL championship and a two-way NBA contract. After leading the Tasmania JackJumpers to an NBL championship and earning the NBL Grand Final Most Valuable Player Award in the 2023-24 season, Jack McVeigh has solidified his reputation as a dominant force in professional basketball. His journey began with the BA Centre of Excellence from 2014 to 2015, before moving to the United States to play college basketball for the Nebraska Cornhuskers from 2015 to 2018. During his 78 games with the Cornhuskers, including 15 starts, he averaged 5.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.
Upon his return to the JackJumpers, his leadership culminated in the team’s historic NBL championship win in the 2023-24 season, a performance recognized with his NBL Grand Final MVP honor. His commitment to the club was further cemented by extending his contract with the JackJumpers until the 2026-27 season, underscoring his integral role in their future. In a significant career milestone in 2024, McVeigh signed a two-way contract with the NBA’s Houston Rockets and their G League affiliate, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, making his official NBA debut on November 6, 2024. During the 2024-25 season, he played in nine NBA games while averaging an impressive 15.7 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.6 assists across 37 G League appearances.
Concurrently, McVeigh has also earned prestigious international recognition, being named to the Australian Boomers’ final squad for the 2024 Paris Olympics and subsequently selected for the 2025 FIBA Asia Cup team, representing Australia on the global stage.
