Jakub Popiwczak

Jakub Popiwczak was born on April 17, 1996, in Legnica, Poland. He began his professional volleyball career in 2012 when he joined Jastrzębski Węgiel, making his debut in the Polish PlusLiga. His early career saw consistent performance, contributing to his team’s success in domestic and European competitions. A notable achievement during this period was helping his team secure third place in the PlusLiga in 2013 and again in 2014. These foundational years established his position as a libero in professional volleyball.

Popiwczak’s career progressed with significant milestones, including achieving bronze medals in the 2013–14 CEV Champions League with Jastrzębski Węgiel, where they defeated Zenit Kazan. He has accumulated multiple Polish Championship titles with Jastrzębski Węgiel in the 2020–21, 2022–23, and 2023–24 seasons, and Polish SuperCup victories in 2021–22 and 2022–23. Individually, he was recognized as the Best Receiver in the 2021–22 PlusLiga. His involvement with the Poland national team led to a silver medal at the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship and a bronze medal at the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship. He secured gold medals at the 2023 and 2025 FIVB Men’s Volleyball Nations League and a gold medal at the 2023 CEV European Championship.

His recent career includes continued participation in major tournaments with the Poland national team, earning bronze medals at the 2019, 2022, and 2024 FIVB Men’s Volleyball Nations League. He has consistently played as a libero, known for his defensive skills. In 2025, Popiwczak transferred to Aluron CMC Warta Zawiercie, marking a new phase in his club career while continuing his national team commitments. His career reflects consistent performance and contributions to both his club and national teams, highlighted by numerous medal finishes in international and national competitions.
