Jakub Popiwczak is a highly esteemed Polish volleyball player who is a member of the Polish national team. His greatest international achievement to date was a silver medal at the 2022 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship. He was also a part of the national teams which won bronze medals at the 2019 and 2022 FIVB Nations League competitions. He has played professionally for the prestigious Polish club Jastrzębski Węgiel since the very beginning of his career in 2012.
After displaying a high amount of athletic promise as a teenager, Popiwczak joined the PlusLiga – the highest league in Polish volleyball – side Jastrzębski Węgiel. In his early years with the team, he won various bronze and silver medals in the Polish Championship and CEV Champions League tournaments, but more recently he has been instrumental in the club’s triumph as one of the best teams in the world. He led Jastrzębski Węgiel to a Polish Championship in the 2020/2021 season, as well as two Polish SuperCup victories in the 2021/2022 and 2022/2023 seasons. For his valiant efforts and superb control on the court, he received his first significant individual award in 2022 after being named Best Receiver at the Polish Championship.
As one of the best-known sportspeople in Poland, Popiwczak is something of a national hero, who never fails to make his nation proud at international tournaments. He regularly interacts with his tens of thousands of fans on his Instagram profile, and will no doubt continue to carve out a successful career for himself in volleyball.
