Júlia Bergmann

Júlia Isabelle Bergmann was born on February 21, 2001, in Munich, Germany. Her family relocated to Brusque, Brazil, in 2011, providing her with exposure to a different culture and language. Both of her parents were volleyball players, leading her to begin the sport in fifth grade. She quickly excelled, representing her city in high-level tournaments within two years. Bergmann is fluent in German, Portuguese, and English. She pursued higher education in the United States, attending Georgia Tech to combine her passion for volleyball with studies in physics.

Bergmann joined the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets volleyball team in 2019. As a freshman, she immediately made an impact by leading the team in kills and earning recognition as the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Freshman of the Year and AVCA Region Freshman of the Year. In 2021, as a junior, she played a crucial role in leading the team to the NCAA tournament final eight, a significant achievement not reached by the team in 18 years. Her performance earned her AVCA First Team All-American honors and the ACC Player of the Year award. She concluded the regular season ranked 12th nationally in points and 13th in kills, topping the ACC in both categories.

Her career continued to flourish with the Brazil national team, which she joined while still in college. She debuted at the 2019 Women’s Nations League tournament, securing a silver medal. In May 2022, she was selected for the 25-player roster for the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League tournament. In her first start as an outside hitter for the national team, she was the highest scorer in kills during their victory over Germany. Bergmann was later named to the Brazilian Olympic team for the Paris 2024 Games, marking her as the first Olympian in Georgia Tech’s program history. She currently plays professionally as an outside hitter for Türk Hava Yolları SK in Turkey.
