James Stanley Daly, born on January 12, 2000, in Brighton, England, began his football journey at a young age, despite an initial rejection from his hometown club, Brighton & Hove Albion. He joined the Crystal Palace academy at 14, where he developed his skills. In 2018, he was named the club’s “Scholar of the Year” and signed a one-year professional deal. During his time at Crystal Palace, he gained first-team experience by being named as a substitute for Premier League matches and was loaned to Isthmian League Premier Division side Kingstonian in August 2018, where he scored 6 goals in 16 appearances. He continued with Crystal Palace until 2020, even playing as a defender for the under-23 squad in the 2019–20 season.
In January 2020, Daly moved to Bristol Rovers in EFL League Two on a two-and-a-half-year contract. He made his debut in February 2020 and scored his first goal for the club in October 2020 against Lincoln City. He played 31 league games for Bristol Rovers, scoring 3 goals. Following this, he joined Stevenage in League Two in June 2021, where he made 15 league appearances. In June 2022, he signed a one-year deal with National League side Woking, appearing in 35 league matches and scoring 7 goals. His career continued with Harrogate Town in June 2023, where he signed a two-year contract. During his tenure at Harrogate Town, he featured in 52 league matches, contributing 4 goals, and also had a loan spell at Aldershot Town in 2024, playing 15 games and scoring twice. In July 2025, James Daly joined Yeovil Town in the National League.
