James Daniel Maddison was born on November 23, 1996, in Coventry, England. His football journey began at Coventry City’s youth academy, where he developed his skills. He made his first-team debut for Coventry in August 2014 as a substitute in a League Cup match. Later the same year, he signed his first professional contract. After progressing through the ranks, he later joined Norwich City in February 2016, a move that included being immediately loaned back to Coventry for the rest of the season. His time at Norwich further honed his abilities, and he was subsequently loaned to Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen in August 2016.
At Norwich City, Maddison established himself as a key player during the 2017–18 season, earning the club’s Player of the Season award and a nomination for the EFL Championship Young Player of the Season. His performances led to a transfer to Premier League club Leicester City in June 2018. Over five seasons with Leicester, he made significant contributions, including winning the FA Cup and FA Community Shield in 2021. He also earned individual honors such as the Premier League Goal of the Month in September 2020 and Leicester City’s Player of the Season for 2021–22. In July 2023, Maddison moved to Tottenham Hotspur, where he was appointed vice-captain and quickly earned the Premier League Player of the Month award in August 2023. His consistent performance and attacking flair have also seen him capped by the England national team, including being part of the 2022 FIFA World Cup squad and making his senior team debut in 2019.
Away from the pitch, Maddison is deeply committed to his family, including his son born in 2021 and twins born in 2023. He maintains a passionate interest in fashion, viewing it as a form of personal expression.
