About

Onyinye Wilfred Ndidi, born on December 16, 1996, in Lagos, Nigeria, began his football journey at Ekosodin Stars FC from 2002 to 2012, before joining Nath Boys Academy from 2012 to 2015. His professional career commenced in January 2015 when he transferred to Genk, a Belgian Pro League club. Ndidi quickly established himself, making his debut on January 31, 2015, against Charleroi. During his tenure with Genk, he notably scored a long-range goal against Club Brugge in 2016, which was recognized as the goal of the season in the Belgian league, with the ball traveling over 111 km/h. He concluded his time at Genk with 61 appearances and 4 goals in the league before moving to the Premier League.

In January 2017, Ndidi made a significant transfer to Leicester City for £17 million. He debuted for the club on January 7, 2017, in an FA Cup match against Everton, and made his Premier League debut a week later against Chelsea. His defensive prowess was immediately evident, highlighted by winning 11 of 14 tackles against Liverpool in February 2017. He scored his first goal for Leicester in an FA Cup game against Derby County in February 2017 and later scored the opening goal for Leicester in the 2019–20 season against Chelsea. Ndidi was an integral part of the Leicester City squad that won the FA Cup in 2020–21, the FA Community Shield in 2021, and the EFL Championship in 2023–24. He signed a new three-year contract with Leicester in July 2024, extending until June 2027, before joining Beşiktaş in 2025. Ndidi has also accumulated 69 caps for the Nigerian national team since his debut in 2015, representing his country in major tournaments including the 2018 FIFA World Cup and multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.
