Jan Vertonghen

Jan Vertonghen has transitioned from a renowned professional football player to an individual known for philanthropic efforts. After being recognized as the Dutch Footballer of the Year in 2012, Jan Vertonghen cemented his status as a pivotal force in European football. His distinguished career began at the Ajax youth academy in 2003, progressing to the senior team in 2006. Initially a midfielder, he transitioned to a regular centre-back role, making 220 appearances and scoring 28 goals across all competitions.

He played a crucial role in Belgium’s fourth-place finish at the 2008 Olympics and their historic third-place achievement at the 2018 FIFA World Cup. He also represented his country in UEFA Euro 2016, Euro 2020, and Euro 2024, announcing his retirement from international football on July 5, 2024, after a 17-year career with the Red Devils.
