Jane Levy

Jane Colburn Levy was born on December 29, 1989, in Los Angeles, California. She grew up in San Anselmo, California, where she attended Sir Francis Drake High School, participating in hip hop dancing and captaining the soccer team. After a semester at Goucher College, she transferred to the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City, where she honed her craft. Upon moving to Los Angeles, Levy quickly secured her first television role as Mandy Milkovich in the Showtime series “Shameless” in early 2011. Her career rapidly progressed, leading to her first lead role later that year as Tessa Altman in the ABC sitcom “Suburgatory,” a role she held from 2011 to 2014.

Levy transitioned into film, gaining significant recognition for her lead role as Mia in the 2013 remake of the horror classic “Evil Dead.” This collaboration reunited her with director Fede Álvarez for the critically acclaimed 2016 horror film “Don’t Breathe,” which became a sleeper hit. Her career has included diverse projects, such as appearances in independent films like “Nobody Walks” (2012), “About Alex” (2014), and “Bang Bang Baby” (2014). She also held series regular roles in Hulu’s “There’s… Johnny!” (2017) and “Castle Rock” (2018), and headlined the Netflix thriller miniseries “What/If” (2019).

From 2020 to 2021, Levy starred as the titular character in the NBC musical dramedy “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist,” a role that earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress – Television Series Musical or Comedy in 2021. She continued her theatrical work, making her debut at the Geffen Playhouse in “POTUS” in 2024. Levy’s recent projects include “A Little Prayer” (2023), which premiered at the 2023 Sundance Film Festival, and forthcoming roles in films like “Atropia” and “Whalefall.”
