Janhvi Kapoor

Janhvi Kapoor, born on March 6, 1997, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, comes from a prominent film family. Her father, Boney Kapoor, is an actor and producer, and her mother, Sridevi, was a renowned actress in multiple Indian film industries. Janhvi completed her schooling at Ecole Mondiale World School in Mumbai and later pursued an acting course at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in California. Despite her mother’s initial preference for her to pursue medicine, Janhvi chose an acting career, following in her mother’s footsteps.

Kapoor made her acting debut in 2018 with the romantic drama “Dhadak,” co-starring Ishaan Khatter and produced by Dharma Productions. The film was a commercial success, grossing over ₹1.1 billion worldwide and earning her the Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut in 2019. She continued to undertake varied projects, including her role as aviator Gunjan Saxena in the 2020 biopic “Gunjan Saxena: The Kargil Girl,” which received critical attention and earned her a Filmfare Award for Best Actress nomination. In 2022, she delivered a performance in the survival thriller “Mili,” playing a young woman trapped in a freezer, which also garnered her a Filmfare Best Actress nomination.

Her career has seen her expand into Telugu cinema in 2024 with a brief but impactful role in “Devara: Part 1,” which became the highest-grossing film of her career. Despite some commercially unsuccessful theatrical releases, Kapoor has consistently sought challenging roles, such as an Indian Foreign Service officer in “Ulajh” (2024) and appearing in “Homebound” (2025), which premiered at the 78th Cannes Film Festival. She has also served as a brand endorser for various products and brands, further establishing her presence in the entertainment and commercial industries.
