Jeffrey Lynn Goldblum was born on October 22, 1952, in West Homestead, Pennsylvania. Goldblum moved to New York City at seventeen to pursue acting, studying at the Neighborhood Playhouse under Sanford Meisner. He began his career on the New York stage, making his Broadway debut in the Tony Award-winning musical “Two Gentlemen of Verona.”
Goldblum’s film career started with minor roles, including his debut in “Death Wish” (1974) and a brief appearance in Woody Allen’s “Annie Hall” (1977). He gained wider recognition for his work in “Invasion of the Body Snatchers” (1978) and “The Big Chill” (1983). A significant turning point came with his lead role in David Cronenberg’s remake of “The Fly” (1986), which earned him critical acclaim. The 1990s saw Goldblum starring in major blockbusters such as Steven Spielberg’s “Jurassic Park” (1993) and its sequel “The Lost World: Jurassic Park” (1997), as well as “Independence Day” (1996), solidifying his status in mainstream cinema.
