Jeremy Edwards

Jeremy Edwards was born on 17 February 1971, in London, England. He pursued academic interests, earning a degree in Politics and Public Administration from Manchester Metropolitan University, and worked as a merchant banker prior to his career in entertainment. His acting journey began notably in 1995 when he took on the role of Kurt Benson in the Channel 4 soap opera “Hollyoaks,” a character he portrayed consistently until 1999, establishing him within the British television landscape. Following his departure from “Hollyoaks,” Edwards transitioned to another significant role as Danny Shaughnessy in the BBC medical drama “Holby City,” appearing in 102 episodes from 1999 to 2003, further cementing his presence in prime-time television.

Edwards’ career has also encompassed a range of television appearances beyond acting. In January 2005, he participated in the third series of “Celebrity Big Brother,” finishing in fourth place, which broadened his public profile. He co-presented “Coronation Street/Emmerdale Confidential” for ITV in 2007 and appeared as an armed police inspector in “Emmerdale” in 2008. His versatility was further demonstrated in 2009 when he competed in the fourth series of “Dancing On Ice.” Edwards has also been a regular panelist on “The Wright Stuff” for Channel 5 and a consistent presence in pantomimes throughout the UK, including “Aladdin” in 2011 and “Dick Whittington” in 2013.

In recent years, Edwards has continued to diversify his work. From 2014 to 2018, he starred as Mike in the CBBC series “Millie Inbetween” across 54 episodes. He made a return to “Hollyoaks” for its 25th anniversary celebrations in October 2020 as Kurt Benson, a role he reprised until December of that year. Beyond acting, Edwards has ventured into directing and writing, evident with his work on “The Locke Inn” (2016). He has also applied his experience in presenting to the business world, training individuals in presentation skills and recently joining shopping TV channel Ideal World as a presenter in January 2024. He is scheduled to return to the stage in Jez Butterworth’s play “Parlour Song” at Greenwich Theatre in May 2025.
