Jillian Harris was born on December 30, 1979, in Peace River, Alberta, Canada. Her career in interior design began while working at Caban, an interior goods store, which led her to offer design consultations. She was subsequently hired by Scott Morison, co-founder of Cactus Club Cafe, to design his restaurants. This early work in restaurant design provided a foundation for her future endeavors in the design industry.
Harris gained broader public recognition through her appearances on reality television. In early 2009, she was a contestant on the 13th season of ABC’s “The Bachelor,” finishing as second-runner-up. Later in 2009, she made history as the first Canadian star of “The Bachelorette” in its 5th season, where she became engaged to Ed Swiderski, though the engagement ended in 2010. Following her time on “The Bachelor” franchise, Harris continued to build her career in design and television. She served as a designer on “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” in 2010 and hosted the first season of “Canada’s Handyman Challenge” in 2012.
From 2013 to 2019, Harris was a co-host and designer on “Love It or List It Vancouver” (also known as “Love It or List It Too” in the United States), where she competed against real estate agent Todd Talbot. Beyond television, Harris launched her own interior decor goods brand and an e-vintage webstore, Charlie Ford Vintage, in 2013. She has cultivated significant brand partnerships, including collaborations with Smash + Tess, Joe Fresh, and Canadian Tire for fashion collections. Harris is also the founder of Jillian Harris Design, The Jilly Academy, The Jilly Box, and co-authored the plant-based cookbook “Fraiche Food Full Hearts” in 2019 with her cousin, Tori Wesszer. She currently resides in Kelowna, British Columbia.
