Joey Votto transitioned from a highly acclaimed MLB first baseman with the Cincinnati Reds to retirement, capping a career highlighted by an MVP award, multiple All-Star selections, and impressive plate discipline. After making his Major League Baseball debut for the Cincinnati Reds on September 4, 2007, Joey Votto quickly established himself as a prominent offensive and defensive player throughout his 17-year career with the team. He hit his first career home run just one day later on September 5, 2007, and by August 31, 2008, recorded his first career four-hit game. Votto’s exceptional talent was recognized early, as he earned six MLB All-Star selections from 2010 to 2013, and again in 2017 and 2018.

These achievements made him only the second Canadian player, after Larry Walker, to reach 2,000 hits, 300 home runs, and 1,000 RBIs in MLB history. He further surpassed Larry Walker by playing his 1,989th career game on August 14, 2022, and reached the significant milestone of playing in his 2,000th game on June 30, 2023, all with the Reds. After being granted Free Agency on November 4, 2023, Votto signed as a Free Agent with the Toronto Blue Jays on March 9, 2024.
