John Paul Jones

John Paul Jones, a legendary figure in rock music, transitioned from a prolific session musician and arranger to an iconic bassist and keyboardist for Led Zeppelin, and later, a respected solo artist and producer. His extensive career showcases adaptability and musical depth rarely matched. After launching his professional career in 1962, John Paul Jones quickly established himself as a highly sought-after session musician, arranger, and studio director. He began extensive studio work with Decca Records in 1964, contributing to hundreds of recordings by 1968.

Jones was later inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of Led Zeppelin in 1995, cementing his legacy in rock history. Following Led Zeppelin, Jones explored diverse musical avenues, providing the soundtrack for the 1985 film Scream for Help and rejoining Jimmy Page and Robert Plant for the historic Live Aid concert in 1985. His arranging talents were further utilized for R.E.M.’s 1992 album Automatic for the People. Jones released his critically acclaimed solo album The Sporting Life with Diamanda Galás in 1994, followed by his debut solo album Zooma in 1999, and The Thunderthief in 2001.

More recently, Jones formed the trio ‘Tres Coyotes’ in 2017 with Magnus Lindberg and Anssi Karttunen, and the duo ‘Sons of Chipotle’ with Karttunen in 2019, continuing to innovate across genres and solidify his enduring influence.
