Jordan Binnington

Jordan Binnington was born on July 11, 1993, in Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada. His early career in junior hockey saw him play for the Owen Sound Attack in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he was a standout goaltender. In 2011, he was drafted 88th overall in the third round by the St. Louis Blues, marking a significant step towards his professional career. Binnington spent several years developing in the minor leagues, including stints with the Peoria Rivermen, Kalamazoo Wings, Chicago Wolves, and Providence Bruins, gaining experience and refining his skills.

His breakthrough into the National Hockey League (NHL) came during the 2018-19 season with the St. Louis Blues. Prior to his call-up, the team was in last place in the NHL standings. Binnington made his first NHL start on January 7, 2019, recording a 3-0 shutout against the Philadelphia Flyers. His performance during that season was instrumental, as he finished with a 24-5-1 record, a 1.89 goals-against average, and a .927 save percentage in 32 appearances. He continued his exceptional play into the playoffs, starting all 26 games and backstopping the Blues to their first-ever Stanley Cup victory, setting a rookie record with 16 playoff wins.

Following his Stanley Cup success, Binnington was named to the Central Division team for the 2020 Honda NHL All-Star Game. On March 11, 2021, he signed a six-year, $36 million contract extension with the Blues. He achieved his 100th NHL career win on December 12, 2022, in a 1-0 shutout against the Nashville Predators. Binnington has also represented Canada internationally, participating in the 2013 IIHF World U20 Championship, the 2024 IIHF World Championship, and starting for Team Canada in the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off, where he led his team to victory. In the 2024-25 season, he became the St. Louis Blues’ all-time franchise wins leader with 152 wins.
