Born on April 9, 1996, in Pasadena, California, Jordan McLaughlin’s journey in professional basketball began after playing college basketball for the USC Trojans. During his collegiate career, McLaughlin demonstrated consistent performance, averaging 12.1 points and 4.5 assists per game in his freshman season. He went on to lead USC to consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances in 2016 and 2017. As a senior in 2018, he achieved a career-high average of 12.8 points, 7.8 assists, 3.7 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game, earning a First Team All-Pac-12 selection. His collegiate tenure saw him become only the third Pac-12 player to record over 600 assists and 1,600 points.
After going undrafted in the 2018 NBA draft, McLaughlin signed with the Brooklyn Nets for Summer League and later joined their G League affiliate, the Long Island Nets, for the 2018-2019 season. His NBA career officially began in 2019 when he signed a two-way contract with the Minnesota Timberwolves. During his time with the Timberwolves, he recorded a career-high 24 points and 11 assists against the Los Angeles Clippers in February 2020, eventually signing a standard contract with the team in September 2021. He continued with Minnesota through the 2023-2024 season.
In July 2024, McLaughlin signed with the Sacramento Kings. His tenure with the Kings was brief, as he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs in February 2025 as part of a three-team trade. He re-signed with the Spurs in July 2025 on a one-year, $3 million contract.
