Julia Simon was born on October 9, 1996, in Albertville, France. Her early exposure to skiing began at age two or three with her father. She initially pursued downhill (Alpine) skiing at the Saisies Sports Club. During this period, she also engaged in parallel (Nordic) cross-country skiing, discovering a preference for this discipline due to its demands and her comfort level. At the age of eight, Simon made a decision to focus on Nordic skiing, subsequently joining the Nordic section of her club.
At 16, Julia Simon transitioned to biathlon, a sport combining cross-country skiing and rifle shooting. This marked a significant turning point in her athletic career. She joined the Savoie Ski Committee and later the French Biathlon Team. Her professional career in biathlon commenced with her participation in the Biathlon World Cup season of 2016–17. Over subsequent seasons, Simon steadily rose through the ranks, demonstrating consistent performance in various disciplines.
Simon’s career highlights include numerous medals at the World Championships and a silver medal at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics in the Mixed Relay.
