Julia Sude is a professional German beach volleyball player under the FIVB Volleyball Women’s Nations League alongside her current partner Karla Borger. Since childhood, she was coached by her father the legendary volleyball player Dr. Burkhard Sude. She made an early debut into the league’s 2004 season at the astonishing age of 17 during the YWC-type country tournament held in Termoli, Italy alongside her partner Florentina Büttner.
To date, Sude has competed in 176 tournaments across the globe with winnings amounting to $499,335 US and has had a handful of partner swaps. In 2007, she played alongside Claudia Lehmann later switching to Jana Köhler, Laura Ludwig, and Chantal Laboureur with whom the two dominated their 2016 world tour. They made it to the semifinals during the Grand Slam at Long Beach, California and competed in the Toronto World Tour finals placing first in Pool D and advanced to Quarter Finals. By early March of 2019, Sude now plays with her now current partner Karla Borger.
In August of 2019, she claimed her first World Tour victory at the Moscow tournament followed by another championing moment at the 3-star tournament in Qinzhou later that same year. Sude now receives several sponsorships from Adidas, Zeppelin, Sportstadt Düsseldorf, Stockheim TEAM Düsseldorf, Deutsche Sporthilfe, RA-MICRO, Aktimed, and others. In 2020, both Borger and Sude were nominated as athletes of the year in Düsseldorf along with successful qualifications to participate in the 2020 Summer Olympics to be held in Tokyo, Japan.
