Jussi Jääskeläinen is a distinguished Finnish professional football coach and former goalkeeper, renowned for his remarkable contributions to the sport. His career began at MP Mikkeli, where he quickly established himself as a key player, helping the team avoid relegation with impressive performances, including multiple clean sheets. His talent caught the attention of VPS Vaasa, where he continued to shine, earning accolades for his outstanding goalkeeping skills and finishing third for the league’s Player of the Year.
In 1997, Jääskeläinen made a significant move to Bolton Wanderers, where he became a cornerstone of the team over a 15-year tenure. He made 530 appearances, showcasing his resilience and consistency. Under the management of Sam Allardyce, he played a pivotal role in transforming Bolton from a First Division side to a competitive Premier League club. His exceptional performances earned him numerous accolades, including the Junior Whites Player of the Year and the Player of the Year award in the 2006-07 season.
After leaving Bolton, Jääskeläinen joined West Ham United, reuniting with Allardyce.
