Justin Skyler Fields, born on March 5, 1999, in Kennesaw, Georgia, established himself as a prominent athlete from a young age. During his high school career at Harrison High, he excelled in both football and baseball, accumulating 4,187 passing yards, 41 passing touchdowns, 2,096 rushing yards, and 28 rushing touchdowns over two years as a starting quarterback. He was recognized as the Elite 11 quarterback competition MVP in 2017 and earned the title of Mr. Georgia Football. Fields began his college football journey at the University of Georgia in 2018. As a true freshman, he served as a backup, tallying 328 passing yards, four passing touchdowns, 266 rushing yards, and four rushing touchdowns across 12 games.
In 2019, Fields transferred to Ohio State, where he achieved immediate eligibility due to an NCAA waiver. His tenure with the Buckeyes was highly successful, leading the team to two Big Ten Championships in 2019 and 2020 and appearances in the College Football Playoff. Fields was a two-time Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year, two-time Big Ten Quarterback of the Year, and a two-time First-team All-Big Ten selection. He finished third in the Heisman Trophy voting in 2019. In the 2020 season, despite a shortened schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Fields delivered a memorable performance in the Sugar Bowl against Clemson, throwing for 385 yards and six touchdowns.
Fields was drafted 11th overall by the Chicago Bears in the 2021 NFL Draft. During his three seasons with the Bears, he set an NFL single-game regular season record for quarterback rushing yards with 178 in 2022 and became the third NFL quarterback to achieve a 1,000-yard rushing season. In 2024, he was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers, where he demonstrated his versatility and leadership, leading the team to three consecutive wins in his starts. Ahead of the 2025 season, Fields signed a two-year, $40 million contract with the New York Jets and was announced as their starting quarterback, continuing his professional career with a new team.
