Justin Willman was born on July 11, 1980, in St. Louis, Missouri. His journey into magic began at age 12 when he broke both arms and his orthopedic surgeon suggested card tricks to regain dexterity. This early exposure led him to perform at events under the stage name “Justin Kredible,” a moniker his mother provided. He later pursued higher education at Emerson College in Boston, where he earned a degree in broadcast journalism. However, his passion for magic and entertainment continued to develop, influencing his career path.
Willman established himself as a prominent figure in entertainment through various television roles and live performances. From 2009 to 2013, he hosted “Cupcake Wars” on Food Network, followed by other Food Network shows like “Halloween Wars” and “Last Cake Standing.” He also hosted “Hubworld” and “Scrabble Showdown” on the Hub Network, and “Win, Lose or Draw” on the Disney Channel. His unique blend of humor and illusion gained significant recognition, leading to his debut comedy/magic special “Sleight of Mouth” premiering on Comedy Central in 2015.
A significant turning point in Willman’s career was the creation and starring role in the Netflix original series “Magic for Humans,” which premiered in 2018. The series showcased his ability to integrate magic with human experiences and humor, garnering critical acclaim and a dedicated audience. He continued his work with Netflix, hosting “Baking Impossible” in 2021 and “The Magic Prank Show with Justin Willman” in 2024. Beyond his on-screen work, Willman has made guest appearances on late-night shows, acted in television series, and served as the magic director for the nonprofit organization MagicAid, demonstrating his commitment to his craft and community.
