Born on September 18, 1998, in Bangkok, Thailand, Kantaphon Wangcharoen quickly rose through the ranks of professional badminton. His early career saw him achieve significant milestones, including becoming the runner-up at the 2014 Singapore International in the men’s singles event, despite suffering a foot injury during the match. Wangcharoen’s talent was further recognized when he secured bronze medals at the World Junior Championships in 2014 and 2016 as part of the mixed team events, and a bronze in the boys’ singles event in 2016. He also earned an Asian mixed team bronze in 2016, establishing himself as a formidable junior player on the international circuit.
Wangcharoen continued his career progression by representing Thailand at senior international competitions. He was a key member of the Thailand national team, contributing to bronze medal wins at the 2017 and 2019 SEA Games, as well as the 2019 Sudirman Cup. In 2017, he reached the finals of the BWF Grand Prix Gold event at the Thailand Masters and later claimed the 2017 National Championships title. His consistent performances led him to qualify for the 2018 BWF World Tour Finals, culminating in a career-best world ranking of No. 15 that year. A pivotal achievement in his career was winning the bronze medal at the 2019 BWF World Championships, making him the first Thai player to achieve a World Championships medal in the men’s singles category. He reached his highest ranking of 12 on October 22, 2019. Kantaphon Wangcharoen’s career record stands at 179 wins and 176 losses.
Wangcharoen has participated in numerous tournaments, including the VICTOR Türkiye International Challenge 2025 where he reached the quarterfinals. His career earnings total $147,974.
