About

Kelly Maria Ripa was born on October 2, 1970, in Stratford, New Jersey. Her early career in entertainment began with a role as a regular dancer on “Dancin’ On Air” and subsequently “Dance Party USA” in 1986. Her first significant acting role came in 1990 as Hayley Vaughan on the ABC soap opera “All My Children,” a role she maintained for 12 years, earning three Daytime Emmy nominations. This period established her presence in television and led to her film debut in “Marvin’s Room” in 1996, alongside Meryl Streep and Leonardo DiCaprio. Her diverse acting work laid the foundation for her broader media career.

In 2001, Ripa joined Regis Philbin as co-host of what became “Live! with Regis and Kelly,” a pivotal moment that significantly expanded her public profile. Her sharp wit and engaging personality contributed to the show’s increased young-audience demographics by 80 percent, solidifying her position as a household name. Following Philbin’s retirement in 2011, she continued to host the show, which transitioned through co-hosts Michael Strahan, Ryan Seacrest, and eventually her husband, Mark Consuelos, becoming “Live with Kelly and Mark.” Ripa has been honored with seven Daytime Entertainment Emmy® Awards for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host during her tenure, including a win in 2024 with Mark Consuelos.

Beyond her talk show and acting, Ripa co-founded Milojo Productions with her husband, Mark Consuelos, in 2007. This production company has created content for various platforms including Bravo, Hulu, and Discovery, and produced Emmy-nominated documentaries like “The Streak” for ESPN and “Off The Rez” for TLC. In 2022, Ripa became a New York Times best-selling author with her collection, “Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories,” and launched her podcast, “Let’s Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa.” She also hosts ABC’s game show “Generation Gap.” Her career path demonstrates a consistent expansion of her influence across multiple media landscapes.
