Kenny Layne – better known by his ring name Kenny King – is professional wrestler, television personality, dancer and actor. King competed in the second season of WWF Tough Enough, and most recently signed to Ring of Honor (ROH) where he is a two-time ROH World Television Champion and a two-time ROH World Tag Team Champion. King is also famous for his stint in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA – now known as Impact Wrestling), which saw him become an X Division Champion on two occasions.
Outside of the ring, King has found success as a television personality appearing on shows including The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and on dating game show Baggage where he made it to the final elimination round. In 2017 he joined the 13th season of The Bachelorette but pulled out after missing his daughter, and the following year he appeared on the 5th season of Bachelor in Paradise.
Born in Florida, King was a talented footballer who played as a strong safety in college. After seeing an advertisement for WWE Tough Enough (the World Wrestling Federation’s reality television program) in 2001 he tried out successfully for the second season of the show, and went on to be trained by Chavo Guerrero, Jr., Bob Holly, Al Snow and Ivory, becoming one of the four finalists of the season. Immediately following Tough Enough he began wrestling on the independent circuit before making his debut with TNA in 2005.
Although King became part of a notable tag team during his time in Ring of Honor, his biggest success has been achieved on his own, and he scored the greatest victory of his career in 2017 when he won the ROH World Television Title at Death Before Dishonor XV defeating New Japan Pro-Wrestling star KUSHIDA.
