Turkey Kerem Kanter has established a professional basketball career across multiple international leagues after a notable college career in the United States, showcasing consistent performance as a power forward and center.

Kerem Kanter was born on April 29, 1995, in Bursa, Turkey. He developed his basketball skills at Wilbraham & Monson Academy in Wilbraham, Massachusetts, and later at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, where he averaged 17.0 points and nine rebounds per game in 2013-14. Kanter was also a key member of the Turkish U-18 National Team, contributing to their gold medal victory at the 2013 U-18 European Championships in Riga, Latvia. His early career demonstrated a strong foundation in basketball, leading to collegiate opportunities in the United States.
Kanter commenced his college basketball career at Wisconsin-Green Bay, where he played from 2014 to 2017. As a sophomore, he contributed to the Phoenix securing a berth in the 2016 NCAA Tournament, and as a junior, he was the team’s second-leading scorer with 11.3 points per game and leading rebounder with 6.3 rebounds per game. He notably scored 20 consecutive points in a game against Central Michigan, earning recognition on ESPN SportsCenter in 2016. For his graduate year (2017-18), Kanter transferred to Xavier University, where he started 16 games and was second in the BIG EAST in field goal percentage (.584). He averaged 10.9 points and 4.5 rebounds per game, helping Xavier achieve a 29–6 season and its first Big East regular-season title, culminating in a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. He tied his collegiate career high with 24 points in the NCAA Tournament win against Texas Southern.
Following his college career, Kanter embarked on a professional journey in 2018. He signed with JL Bourg Basket in France, followed by BC Dzūkija in Lithuania in 2019. From 2019 to 2020, he played for Club Joventut Badalona in Spain. He then moved to Greece, signing with Kolossos Rodou in 2020, where he became the Greek League Top Scorer and rebounding leader in 2021. In 2021-2022, Kanter played for Śląsk Wrocław in Poland, winning the Polish League title. He continued his international career with Akita Northern Happinets in Japan (2022-2023), then ADA Blois Basket 41 in France (2024), BC Avtodor in Russia (2024-2025), and currently plays for the Seoul Samsung Thunders in the Korean Basketball League (2025-present). His diverse professional experience includes being the EuroCup rebounding leader in 2022 and the LKL Top Scorer in 2019.
