A formidable force in the frontcourt, Kerem Kanter is a Turkish basketball player who currently plays for Kolossos Rodou of the Greek Basket League. Standing at a towering 6-foot-10, he has also competed for the Turkish U-18 national team, helping the side win gold at the FIBA Europe U-18 Championship held in Latvia.
Born in Bursa, Turkey, Kanter began his playing career at Florida’s IMG Academy where he averaged nine rebounds and 17 points a game. The talented young player received a great deal of major college attention, but took a while to decide if he wanted to play in a professional league rather than go to college, and eventually decided on a college place at Wisconsin–Green Bay. Kanter played alongside Keifer Sykes as a freshman at Green bat, and helped the Phoenix win their first NCAA Tournament for two decades. In his graduate year Kanter found his stride and became a powerhouse in the frontcourt, averaging 4.5 rebounds and 10.9 points in the Musketeers’ 29-6 season.
Kanter’s professional career has seen him play for clubs across Europe, first signing for JL Bourg Basket of the French league in 2018 and later playing for Spain’s Club Joventut Badalona. Since signing with Kolossos Rodou of the Greek Basket League in 2020 he has won Greek League Top Rebounder, Greek League Top Scorer and Greek League PIR Leader.
