Kierston Wareing

Kierston Wareing is an English actress known for her roles in films such as ‘It’s a Free World…’ and ‘Fish Tank’, as well as television series including ‘EastEnders’ and ‘Hollyoaks’. After her breakthrough lead role as Angie, an ambitious recruitment agent assisting immigrants, in Ken Loach’s critically acclaimed 2007 film It’s a Free World…, Kierston Wareing garnered significant industry recognition. Her powerful performance earned her nominations for Best Actress and Most Promising Newcomer at the 2007 British Independent Film Awards. Wareing’s career had begun earlier with appearances in the TV series The Bill in 2003 and 2006, initially credited as Fay Wareing.

She then delivered a compelling supporting performance as Joanne in Andrea Arnold’s 2009 film Fish Tank, a project that went on to win the BAFTA award for ‘Best British Film’ and the prestigious Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. For her work in Fish Tank, Wareing was further nominated for British Independent Film Award for Best Supporting Actress and a London Film Critics Circle Award for British Supporting Actress of the Year in 2009. Expanding her presence across television, Wareing took on significant roles including Tina Adams in Wire in the Blood in 2007, Jackie in Martina Cole’s The Take in 2009, and Madge in The Runaway in 2011. Her versatility was further showcased as Caroline Jones in Luther (2011) and Gina in Inside Men (2012).

On the big screen, Wareing appeared as Bez in the 2019 action thriller Avengement, further solidifying her presence in genre cinema. Looking ahead, Kierston Wareing is slated for upcoming film projects, including The Death of Bunny Munro and Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare, both anticipated for release in 2025.
