About

Kimberly Williams-Paisley was born Kimberly Payne Williams on September 14, 1971, in Rye, New York. She began her career in show business at the age of 13. Williams-Paisley gained significant recognition with her breakthrough role as Annie Banks in the 1991 film ‘Father of the Bride,’ a performance that earned her several teen award nominations. She reprised her role in the sequel, ‘Father of the Bride Part II,’ in 1995. Her early career also included roles in films such as ‘Indian Summer’ (1993) and ‘Coldblooded’ (1995), before she took on the lead in the ABC drama series ‘Relativity’ in 1996, where her work received critical acclaim.

From 2001 to 2008, Williams-Paisley was a series regular on the ABC sitcom ‘According to Jim,’ portraying Dana for 165 episodes. During this period, she also expanded her creative work into directing, helming three episodes of ‘According to Jim’ between 2006 and 2008, and writing and directing the short film ‘Shade’ (2006). She also co-produced made-for-TV movies like ‘Lucky 7’ (2003) and ‘Identity Theft: The Michelle Brown Story’ (2004). Her television career continued with recurring roles, including Peggy Kenter in the ABC drama ‘Nashville’ (2012–2013) for 22 episodes, and Gretchen in ‘Two and a Half Men’ (2014) for six episodes. More recently, she appeared in films such as ‘Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Road Chip’ (2015), ‘The Christmas Chronicles’ (2018), and ‘Jesus Revolution’ (2023).

Beyond her acting and directing, Williams-Paisley is a New York Times bestselling author. Her book, ‘Where the Light Gets In,’ published in 2016, chronicles her mother’s battle with primary progressive aphasia, a form of dementia. She is also a co-founder of The Store, a non-profit, referral-based free grocery store in Nashville established in 2020 in partnership with Belmont University, alongside her husband, country musician Brad Paisley. This initiative addresses food insecurity and reflects her dedication to community service. In 2022, Williams-Paisley experienced a personal challenge when she lost her voice and could only speak in a whisper for nearly two years. Following a diagnosis of partial vocal cord paralysis and corrective surgery in August 2024, she has regained her voice and continues to advocate for vocal health and self-expression. She is also set to host the third season of the Fox reality show ‘Farmer Wants a Wife’ in 2025 and appear in the upcoming TV series ‘9-1-1: Nashville’ as Cammie Raleigh.
