Ki:Theory, also known as Joel Burleson, is a composer and producer recognized for his cinematically styled electronic productions. After releasing his self-titled debut album in 2000, Ki:Theory, also known as Joel Burleson, went on to achieve multiple number one positions on Apple Music Electronic and Alternative charts with his distinct style of cinematic electronic production. This groundbreaking approach led to his music being featured in major television shows such as ‘CSI’ and ‘How To Get Away With Murder,’ followed by his second album, The Mantic Method, in 2003. Expanding his reach, Ki:Theory produced commissioned remixes for acclaimed artists including Daft Punk, ODESZA, Cypress Hill, Rob Zombie, and Queens Of The Stone Age, establishing his versatile production capabilities within the industry.

That same year, he contributed a cover/remix of Depeche Mode’s ‘Enjoy the Silence’ for the promotional campaign of ‘Ghost in the Shell,’ a film that would later feature his original music. In 2017, ‘Stand by Me’ was prominently featured in the mid-season finale of ‘Fear the Walking Dead,’ coinciding with the release of his album Silence. More recently, Ki:Theory released the Centrifugal EP in 2019 and continued his work in film scoring with Long Live Chainsaw (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack) in 2021 and The Engine Inside (Original Score) in 2023. His cinematic sound has been a sought-after element in major film and television productions, including ‘Ghost In The Shell,’ ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean,’ and ‘The Morning Show.’ Demonstrating his versatility as a live performer, Ki:Theory has supported artists such as Purity Ring, Phantogram, Passion Pit, and DJ Shadow on stage, further cementing his reputation as a dynamic and influential artist in electronic music.
